Today was certainly an unforgettable experience for me. At around 8.25am, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit Hualien, sending aftershocks of magnitude 2 to Taipei.
The students in my class were very calm and well-organised during the earthquake, each performing a different safety measure orderly. Some students went to turn off all electricity appliances, others opened the classroom doors to ensure an open passage for evacuation, while the rest hid under their tables for safety.
As it was my first earthquake experience, I was nervous yet excited at the same time that I finally got a chance to experience how an earthquake is like.
The students in Taiwan are really well-prepared when dealing with frequent natural disasters like earthquakes. My teacher and the students took the opportunity to share with me some earthquake evacuation tips as well as their past earthquake experiences.
What a wonderful earthquake experience for me!

Gosh! Is everything ok?
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a small earthquake so we did not need to evacuate to open spaces. I could see how the fans and lights in the classroom were swaying above my head. Scary but definitely an educational experience for me.
DeleteGlad you all were okay that day.
